Woodward: Waddock the man to take us forward
3:00pm Friday 21st September 2012 in Sport By Andy Carswell
Gary Waddock has the full backing of Wanderers joint chairman Don Woodward
CHAIRMAN Don Woodward believes Gary Waddock is the right man to take Wanderers forward - saying he's excited at the prospect of what his side can achieve.
Poor results early in the season, coupled with last season's relegation, has led to increased pressure on the Blues boss from some sections of the Adams Park faithful.
But Woodward has told those supporters to stick by the manager - and he believes Waddock can lead Wanderers to another promotion, having achieved that feat in the 2010-11 season.
He told the Bucks Free Press: "You can see with the group of players, old and new, young and experienced, what he is getting out of them.
"The team he's got with him is fantastic and he's a man who's done it before. There's no reason we can see it not happening.
"Let him have some time with this new group and let's see where we get to."
Woodward pointed to the performance from Wanderers during their Tuesday night defeat at Exeter as an indicator of what the team could achieve.
Speaking after that game, he said: "The performances from everybody were brilliant. The way they are beginning to gel as a team, I'm really looking forward to the end product with this group of players.
"If we see more of tonight, they'll be fine."
