Wasps take a point from Kingsholm

James Simpson-Daniel crosses for Gloucester
WASPS spent almost ten minutes at the end of their match with Gloucester on Saturday inside the Cherry and Whites’ 22, scrapping for a try that would have earned them a draw.
Former Gloucester man Nick Robinson, a replacement from Stephen Jones, was influential and more than once he nearly sent a team-mate over or went over himself.
Wasps couldn’t quite manage it though, and in the end had to content themselves with the losing bonus point won by Robinson’s late penalty.
Director of rugby Dai Young said: “I was quite pleased with the last ten minutes and the endeavour and spirit to make sure we came away with something, but we’ve got to be a little bit meaner and tigher.
“Teams have to earn everything they get rather than us giving away soft points.
We got something out of the game and it’s important for us to keep chipping away. That’s something we talked about over the summer – if we’re not lucky enough or decent enough to win games to at least make sure we come away with something.”
Despite not being at their best, Wasps wouldn’t have had to do much different to have won it.
Young said: “We had opportunities to win that game, but I don’t think we should have won it.
“Going into half time we were fortunate to be only seven points behind. We were disappointed with how we were playing. We were losing the physical battle in most departments.
“In the second half we stepped up but left ourselves too much to do with needless penalties in the second half.”
