Bull could be back in training next week
NIKKI Bull is the closest of Blues' walking wounded to making a return to the first team.
Wanderers' first choice goalkeeper has been out with a thigh strain for three weeks but caretaker manager Gareth Ainsworth hopes to have him back in training next week.
Loan signing Jordan Archer will keep goal against Torquay on Saturday and if Bull doesn't recover the Spurs youngster may have to face Portsmouth in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on Tuesday night.
Ainsworth said: "If we put him in a game situation and his thigh goes again, it'll be devastating so we want to be careful.
"He wants to be out there all the time, so we have to hold him back rather than him holding himself back.
"He's the closest out of everyone [to recovering], which is good. When he's fit and we know he can kick through 90 minutes, he'll be back in the team without a doubt."
Ainsworth said injured midfielders Matt Bloomfield and Sam Wood are now weeks rather than months away from being able to take part in training again.
He added Marvin McCoy was making better than expected progress in his recovery from a broken leg sustained in the opening match of the season at Watford.
The full-back could be back in November, a month earlier than the original diagnosis.
