Home Counties leaders set bar high

Wycombe beat Welwyn GC last weekend
IF High Wycombe Cricket Club can avoid defeat tomorrow, the prospect of going through the season unbeaten will start looming large.
The Home Counties Division One champions and leaders will be shorn of almost half a team when they go to Potters Bar, but another positive result will take them to the half-way point of the campaign with an almost unblemished record.
Inspirational all-rounder James Benning said: “We’ve put ourselves in a position to do it.
“I don’t want to say we will, but it is possible. The conditions will play a big part, but it is possible.
“To win seven out of eight is a pretty exceptional start and we’re on a bit of a roll at the moment. We’ve got a good lead at the top of the table and different people are performing for us each week.
“Young guys have come in and done a fantastic job and hopefully they’ll continue to do that. It’s always nice nice to come into a winning team, but it’s a big game for us this weekend.”
