WANDERERS midfielder Sam Wood said the spirit amongst his team mates could help them to promotion next season.

The 26-year-old was a member of the Brentford side that won the League Two title in 2009 and he said the team spirit at Griffin Park was a key factor in their championship win.

And he said he can see similarities between that side and the current team at Adams Park.

Wood said: "When I was at Brentford we had a great team spirit and that's why we got promoted in the first year. We went up to League One, had not a bad season and had a run in the cup.

"Team spirit is massive and it's what we've got here. It shows in the way we celebrate with each other and things we do around the club. It's fantastic and it's what we need.

"It showed second half of the season we've got a great team spirit - we want to take that into next season."

He added the strong bonds between the Wanderers players were thanks chiefly to the infectious personality of manager Gareth Ainsworth.

Wood said: "What he does is all positive, there's no negatives and that's what people want. He's always got a smile on his face and if you're coming into work with a smile on your face, it's a happy place."
