THE corner routine that helped Steven Craig snap up his first Wanderers goal has been nicknamed the Dobbo Special by the Blues squad in honour of assistant manager Richard Dobson.

A training ground routine devised by Dobson paid off against Southend as Craig powered home his maiden Wycombe goal with a superb near post header.

And the Scotsman was quick to pay tribute to Dobson, running to give him a high five to acknowledge his role in what turned out to be the winner.

Craig said: "We've started calling it the Dobbo Special now. It was very clever. Even when we were practicing it in training you could see it was going to work. It's nice when you work on things off the pitch and it pays off on Saturday.

"It's nice to break your duck with your new club. What made it more speical was it was the winning goal and a massive three points for us after the disappointment of the week before.

"I like to score any goal. I'm renowned for scoring headers but my favourite ones are the ones that are two yards out."

After scoring Craig headed straight for the dugout to embrace manager Gareth Ainsworth to thank him for taking a chance on him after being released by Partick Thistle in the summer.

He said: "I made it no secret I wanted to give English football a shot. Gaz has given me the opportunity. It was to thank Dobbo as well because we worked on that corner kick for four or five days. It was a token of my appreciation."

There are promising signs of a fruitful partnership between Craig and Dean Morgan, with the duo scoring four goals in the two league matches in which they've been paired together in attack.

Craig said: "Dean's a smashing lad and it's no secret he's got all the ability in the world. Results definitely help partnerships. We've shown a couple of times in pre season that we can play well together. Against Oxford we showed even down to ten men we're a good partnership.

"Gaz has got a tough job to pick striking partnerships. At the moment it's me and Dean that are doing it for him."
