STEVEN Craig could be set for a spell on the sidelines if it’s confirmed he was concussed during this afternoon’s goalless draw with Bury.

The Scotsman landed on his neck after taking a tumble from an aerial duel and needed a lengthy period of treatment on the pitch.

He didn’t require a trip to hospital but admitted he couldn’t remember the incident.

New rules stipulate Craig won’t be available to play or allowed to take part in training for a minimum of six days if he did suffer a concussion.

He will be assessed by the Wanderers medical staff and manager Gareth Ainsworth said the injury to the striker overshadowed a fine performance by his team.

The Blues boss said: “That’s my main concern, about one of my players.

“Reports are it’s concussion – I’ll confirm those reports with the doctor and the medical staff. If he has been concussed there’s a protocol in place where he’s going to have to have some time off.

“I’m not about to risk anyone’s livelihood, but if he’s fine, Stevie Craig’s a big player for me and he’ll be back in soon.

“He’s typical of the performance – [he gave] absolutely everything. He’s put his head in where it’s going to hurt for the team. We saw all the players doing it today. The application and the effort they are showing is something we’ve worked on – it’s not by accident.”
