MATT Ingram said the Wanderers defence have developed an almost telepathic understanding in their rise up the League Two table.

No keeper has been beaten on fewer occasions than the High Wycombe-born stopper, who's only let in six goals all season and kept five clean sheets in the process.

Despite his pride at that statistic Ingram said it was chiefly down to those in front of him.

Wanderers have kept the same back four in every game this season and Ingram said that consistency in selection has laid the foundations to the climb to second in the league.

He said: "We know each other's game inside out. It's a new back five and playing every game has massively helped going into the season.

"At Portsmouth we could barely hear each other in the atmosphere there. It shows how good our understanding is.

"We're doing everything that's asked of us at the moment. We need to keep that going and see where that takes us.

"To be fair I've not had a lot to do in games because of the lads in front of me. Everyone's doing their job. If I'm called upon, I'll hopefully be there for the team and do my job."

Of the Blues defence that's currently doing so well only Aaron Pierre was at Adams Park last season - and he only made eight appearances in a loan spell.

There was a high turnover of players in the summer and Ingram admitted to being slightly surprised at how quickly the squad had gelled together.

He said: "It's been really surprising - even Hayesy, Matty and Stevie linking up up top. Last year we didn't have a partnership that would stay the same. Everyone's clicked really well."
