MATT Bloomfield said his team mate Matt McClure was fouled for a "fairly blatant" penalty against Barnet.

Replays suggested the Wanderers striker went over in the area under minimal contact from Andy Yiadom, but Bloomfield said referee Oliver Langford made the correct call in pointing to the spot.

Barnet fans were left fuming at the decision as the penalty was successfully tucked away by Paul Hayes to level the score and swing the balance of play back in Wycombe's favour.

But Bloomfield said: "Matty's gone between the two of them, they've both gone to try and hook the ball and he's gone down. Quite where the contact was, I don't know, but these days if you put a foot across someone in the box, it's so easy for penalties to be given away.

"A bit like the sending off, it's dangerous play, and the refs are told to give them.

"As soon as someone's run through and you put your foot across them, you run the risk of it being a penalty.

"I don't think Matty did it on purpose. I think he got clipped and he went down.

"People move at such speed these days, and the pitches are firmer, if you're running and you get clipped, you go down. There was contact on Matty."

Langford received more catcalls from the home fans after sending off Sam Togwell for a foul on Bloomfield.

The long serving midfielder said however: "The ref was unfairly given a bit of stick because of that [giving the penalty] and the sending off. In my eyes they were fairly blatant."
