Former Wanderers captain Stuart Lewis says wanting a fresh start was the reason behind his exit from Adams Park.

The midfielder captained Blues last season but found himself on the fringes of manager Gareth Ainsworth’s plans this term.

Consequently the midfielder jumped at the chance to join Ebbsfleet United in the Conference South, bringing his four year association with Wanderers to an end.

Upon joining the non-league outfit Lewis spoke of the need for him to make a fresh start on the club's website.

He said: “I can’t wait to get started. I’m over the moon to be a part of it and hope to hit the ground running.

“I’ve been at Wycombe for four years but it’s a fresh challenge for me and when I heard of the owner’s plans here and talked to the manager, I just jumped at the chance to be part of something that’s moving forward in the way this is.

“I’ve had a great time at Wycombe, I’ve captained them, shared some great experiences with the fans and people there and it’s a really good club. But I needed a fresh start.”

The midfielder could make his debut for Fleet on Saturday when they take on Forest Green.
