Gareth Ainsworth believes he already has the players in his squad to cover for the departed Josh Scowen - and he won't be panicked into signing any possible replacements.

Scowen, one of Wanderers' star performers over recent seasons, left for League One side Barnsley to become the third player to exit Adams Park during the transfer window.

Stuart Lewis and Paris Cowan-Hall have both also moved on, but the departure of former player of the year Scowen will be the most keenly felt of the trio.

Wanderers boss Ainsworth said he is on the lookout for someone who can specifically fill the 21-year-old's role in anchoring the midfield - but insisted he won't be rushed into bringing anyone in.

He said he's not looking for a quick fix and instead wants someone who's prepared to commit to Wanderers for the long term.

But Ainsworth added if there's no one out there who he can bring in, he's content his current midfielders are more than capable of filling in for Scowen.

Experienced Matt Bloomfield took the holding role on Saturday, with new signing Marcus Bean, Danny Rowe and Peter Murphy all able to play in Scowen's old position.

Ainsworth said: "Josh's position was an important position for the team, with the way we play. He plays well in a two but he also plays well in that role just in front of the back four.

"I'm always on the lookout for players who can do that role, and obviously we'll have a look at my squad here to see if people can do that role and fill Josh's shoes - which will be tough shoes to fill.

"I'm not going to go out and sign the wrong people, because it would be wrong for the club to panic and get the wrong person in.

"There will be big decisions - if they right decision for Wycombe is to not bring anyone in, then I'll do that.

"I'm really happy with Marcus Bean, who came in for Stuart Lewis but also with a mind that Josh was attracting a lot of attention as well.

"We are looking at this season, next season and the season afterwards, so I don't want to bring someone in just for six months to do a job. This is part of the plan - bring in people long term who fit the bill and want to commit to Wycombe Wanderers."
