Wanderers manager Gareth Ainsworth hinted that there are unlikely to be any changes to his team selection for tonight’s game against Accrington as he simply doesn’t have enough bodies in his squad.

For the second game running the Blues boss could field only six substitutes on his bench after Hogan Ephraim pulled out of the warm-up after complaining of feeling unwell.

Sido Jombati was missing for the first time this season against Shrewsbury on Saturday and he will be assessed, along with Ephraim, on his foot injury.

Ainsworth said last Thursday that Max Kretzschmar was “very close” to a return to the squad, but the game at Adams Park may come too soon for the 21-year-old who hasn’t appeared since December.

“It’s difficult squad rotating without a squad,” said the Wycombe manager. “We couldn’t fill the bench again today (Saturday) which was a big thing for us.

“It will be tough to rotate the squad. We’ll see how Hogan is, but it will be difficult to leave anyone out after that performance. Again, tired legs, injuries and knocks we’ll assess over the next few days and I’m just glad we’ve got a little break after the Accrington game to get everyone back fit.

“Sido is a big blow for us. He’s played every minute of every game and he’ll be crucial. I’m really happy with the way things are going, the fitness of the boys and the application, which is something that has been lacking from here in previous years and I’m really pleased that’s come off today (Saturday).”

Tonight’s visitors have lost three of their last four League Two outings – all to sides in the tops six – with Saturday’s 3-0 loss to Burton the latest in that series.

Wanderers will however need to be on their guard against John Coleman’s 15th place side with Stanley’s last victory a 1-0 success against Burton in February and their last away triumph a 2-1 win versus Southend.

After Saturday’s game Ainsworth said: “It’s another game that we’ll have to take really professionally. Accrington have turned a few teams over this season so we’ll be very wary of that, and I’ve got some tired legs in there because they’ve run their socks off.

“I know that with the spirit and fitness we’ve got everything’s in place. We won’t get carried away, especially after last year, we know what happened. Enjoy tonight, but if the lads are reading this don’t go out because you’ve got a big game Tuesday.”

When the sides met earlier in the season Paris Cowan-Hall curled in a beauty from long range in a 1-1 draw.

The winger has now departed Blues but the man who filled a wide berth against Shrewsbury feels tonight’s game is one which second place Wanderers cannot take lightly.

Sam Wood said: “It’s going to be tough – they’re a footballing side as well. We’ve shown that we’re not very good at home on a Tuesday night but hopefully we can put that right.

“We’ll take the positives from today’s (Saturday’s) performance and go into that and try to get the three points that we want.”
