On loan Brentford duo Nico Yennaris and Sam Saunders have extended their stays at Adams Park until the end of the season.

Their original one month loan deals were due to expire on Sunday but they are now free to play a part in Wanderers' last nine matches of the campaign – although Brentford retain a 24 hour recall clause on both players.

The new deal expires on May 2 which means they wouldn't be available for the play-offs should Blues drop out of the automatic promotion spots in League Two.

Gareth Ainsworth said: “Sam and Nico have slotted in brilliantly, as we knew they would, and it’s great to have them with us for the remainder of the season.

“We see them as being an important part of a squad which is fully focused on winning promotion and I’d like to thank Brentford once again for allowing us to keep them.”

At the Wycombe Wanderers Trust meeting last Thursday Ainsworth told fans there was “no way I’m lying down and thinking that they’re going back to Brentford,” adding that the club were working towards reaching an agreement with the Bees that will see the duo stay in Buckinghamshire.

Since joining on February 27 the pair have featured in five games for the Chairboys, helping the team to garner three draws and two wins.

Yennaris has deputised at right-back in the last two matches after Sido Jombati injured his ankle, and could well be part of the back four again when Wanderers travel to the Prostate Cancer UK Stadium tomorrow night.

Saunders has also impressed in a Wycombe shirt and his display against Shrewsbury earned him the man-of-the-match award.
