Expectations will be on Wanderers' shoulders as they host bottom of the table Cheltenham Town tomorrow, Blues boss Gareth Ainsworth said.

Wanderers face the strugglers in part one of an Adams Park double header tomorrow before welcoming play off hopefuls Exeter City on Tuesday night.

Ainsworth said everyone will be expecting a home win against the Gloucestershire side, who are now onto their fourth manager of the season after former Yeovil Town boss Gary Johnson was appointed last week.

Things have been so bad for the Whaddon Road outfit this season that Asa Hall is the front runner for player of the year from fed-up fans, despite missing all but the first four minutes of the campaign with an Achilles injury.

Ainsworth said: "It's not great to play bottom of the league at any point of the season. Everyone expects - that's a horrible word in football, because you can't expect anything in this game. You have to earn it.

"If we play to our full potential, we've got the beating of anyone in this league.

"At this stage of the season - as we know because we were at the other end of the table - form goes out the window. You can really have some freak results. I'm sure Cheltenham will be coming to us on Saturday with absolute fire in their belly trying to survive in the Football League."

Reflecting on crucial refereeing decisions that have gone against Wanderers in recent weeks, Ainsworth added: "Things go against you and we've seen that in the last two games. We've seen uncontrollables can go against you, and it had an effect on the results. I hope things will go for us on Saturday and we can get back to winning ways."

Town are bottom of the form table and Blues will face the side that top it, Exeter, three days later - with Ainsworth looking to end a sequence of failing to win a Tuesday night match at Adams Park since 2012.

The Blues boss said: "We've got a difficult game on Tuesday against Exeter, not least with it being on a Tuesday night, which we need to break the curse of.

"They are flying and in big contention for the play offs, but we've stood up to many tests this season."

Hogan Ephraim should be available to play for Wanderers tomorrow despite suffering a hand injury - but doubts remain over the fitness of Sam Saunders and Matt McClure.

Forward Ephraim hurt his hand during his 15 minutes on the field against Burton Albion on Monday, but Ainsworth said the former QPR will be able to feature against Cheltenham.

Saunders missed the trip to the Pirelli Stadium with a hamstring injury and Ainsworth said he and striker McClure - who is getting closer to full fitness - won't be risked if they haven't recovered in time.

Sido Jombati and Max Kretzschmar will both miss out but Blues have no fresh injury concerns heading into the weekend.
