Alfie Mawson has been nominated for the League Two Player of the Year award.

The 21-year-old has become a fans’ favourite at Adams Park after excelling at the heart of Wanderers’ defence alongside Aaron Pierre.

Mawson arrived at the club on loan from Championship side Brentford just 24 hours before the start of the season and has since contributed to 14 clean sheets as Wycombe have climbed to third in the table.

The defender, who has also scored five goals this campaign, is up against Bury’s Danny Mayor and Shrewsbury’s Ryan Woods for the award which will be presented at the Football League Awards in London on Sunday evening.
