Four players, including striker Matt McClure, have been shown the exit door at Wycombe Wanderers, as manager Gareth Ainsworth looks to reshape his squad after Saturday’s heartbreaking Wembley play off final defeat.

Tommy Fletcher, Charlie Horlock and Nathan Evans have all been told by the Blues boss their contracts – which were due to expire at the end of this season – will not be renewed.

The release of McClure comes as something of a surprise, with the Slough-born youngster finishing as the club’s top goalscorer in the 2012/13 season, but the former Northern Ireland U21 international struggled with a succession of injuries throughout his time with the club and played just four times in the last three months of the season just gone.

Of the remaining three players to be released, defender Fletcher was the only one to play a competitive game for Wanderers, albeit as an 89th minute substitute in a Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tie against Exeter City.

Ainsworth has offered a new contract to his former QPR team mate Hogan Ephraim, while Wanderers have said striker Steven Craig will be invited in for talks over his future at the club later in the summer.
