Wycombe Wanderers goalkeeper Alex Lynch has joined National League South side Wealdstone on loan.

Lynch moves to Grosvenor Vale on loan as first-choice Jonathan North sustained an injury in the Stones' penultimate pre-season friendly on Saturday.

The 20-year-old stopper was forced into the limelight last season after injury to regular number one Matt Ingram left boss Gareth Ainsworth with no alternative but to play the Welsh youngster in the League Two play-offs.

Lynch, who had only played 15 minutes of league football for Wanderers before the play-offs commenced, played the full 180 minutes against Plymouth Argyle in the semi-finals as Blues advanced 5-3 on aggregate.

And he was again between the sticks for the final at Wembley Stadium, saving in the penalty shoot-out to deny Southend United's Ben Coker before the Shrimpers eventually prevailed from the spot, 7-6.

The young gloveman joined the Chairboys from Peterborough United last summer and after loan stints with Hayes & Yeading and Burnham, returned to Adams Park to deputise for Ingram.

Lynch featured against the Stones in pre-season earlier this summer in a 3-1 win. Wealdstone kick off the new season at Bath City on Saturday.
