Wycombe Wanderers have signed two Brentford FC youngsters on loan until Wednesday, 23 December to help boost their injury hit squad.

James Ferry, 18, and Jermaine Udumaga, 20, have both arrived shortly before the emergency loan window closes this evening.

Blues manager Gareth Ainsworth is pleased he has been able to add some new faces to his squad and claimed that the club’s relationship with Brentford was an important factor in the deals.

“I’d like to thank Brentford for once again working with us and entrusting us with two of their young stars,” Ainsworth said.

“We’ve got an excellent relationship with Brentford which enables us to benefit from taking their youngsters on loan and contributing to their development on and off the pitch.”

Both players are midfielders which is an area of the pitch in which Wycombe are short on numbers especially now that Marcus Bean and Stephen McGinn have picked up injuries.

Ferry who is captain of the Brentford development squad was part of the team that won the Milk Cup in 2012 and is held in high regard at Griffin Park.

He is a central midfielder and with Luke O’Nien and Matt Bloomfield currently being the only fit members of the squad who would naturally fill that position he will act as cover during his stay.

Udumaga on the other hand generally plays in more of an attacking midfield role but describes himself as being suited to playing either as a number 10 or in a deeper position.

He scored a sensational goal for Brentford's development squad against Reading at Adams Park earlier this month, collecting the ball halfway inside the reading half turning and firing into the top corner from the best part of 30 yards.

After starting his career with Charlton the youngster has been at Brentford since 2014 having previously had an unsuccessful trial at Newcastle and spent time with Crystal Palace in 2013.

Ainsworth feels that the two player’s time in youth football will help them during their stay at Adams Park and expects them to be involved in first team duties.

He said: “James and Jermaine have played a lot of matches at youth level and we look forward to giving them the opportunity to experience a first-team environment in training and on matchdays.”

While the players are unlikely to see extended game time unless Wycombe suffer more injuries they will be an important addition to the side.

The Wycombe squad has been stretched so thinly in recent weeks that Ainsworth has been unable to name a full bench and has gone into the last two matches with just six substitutes to pick from.

He is fully aware of the demands that will be put on his side in the next month and a half as they play games in hand and head into the busy festive period and feels the new arrivals can help.

Ainsworth explained: “We’ve got a lot of games coming up and having them in the squad will give us extra options when we need them."

Ferry and Udumaga will wear number 24 and 25 respcetivley during their time with Wanderers.
