Matt Bloomfield played on for almost seven minutes after suffering a fractured arm whilst scoring the equaliser in yesterday’s 1-1 draw against York City.

Bloomfield sustained the injury while stooping to head home in the 88th minute as he received a kick to the arm from former Chairboys player Dave Winfield.

With the Blues out of substitutes at the time, Bloomfield bravely played on for the remainder of the game before heading to A&E in the early hours of Sunday morning to have the injury assessed.

The 32-year-old took to twitter this morning to inform Wanderers fans of the news and accompanied his message with a picture of his arm in a cast.

He tweeted: “Unfortunately scoring yesterday resulted in me fracturing my ulna and getting this done at 3:30 this morning.”

The club is yet to announce how long Bloomfield will be out for, but the typical treatment for an ulna fracture can take up to eight weeks.

There is precedent for players wearing casts, with Didier Drogba appearing in the 2010 World Cup after breaking his arm, but it is unclear whether the club will pursue this course of action.

Bloomfield joins Luke O’Nien, Sam Wood and Joe Jacobson, who should be fit for the visit of Barnet next Saturday, on the treatment table.

Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth also confirmed Aaron Pierre and Jason McCarthy played on after picking up knocks during the draw.
