MARCUS Bean believes reaching a season-long target of 61 League Two points has had no impact of Wycombe Wanderers’ player’s commitment.

The Chairboys have failed to win any of their four games since bringing up the landmark tally with a drab 0-0 draw at Notts County at the end of March.

The indifferent run of form has seen them be superseded in the race for the play-offs by AFC Wimbledon, but Bean argues the players have never viewed 61 points as their target.

“I don’t think we have relaxed and the emphasis has been on trying to play all out attacking football and taking the shackles off since reaching the target,” Bean explained after Tuesday’s 0-0 draw with Yeovil Town.

“The target in the dressing room from the player’s perspective has been that we wanted to make the play-offs as a minimum this season.

“Regardless of what the management said, that was the goal we set ourselves and anything less than that will be a disappointment considering where we have been all season. The Blues head into their final three games of the season facing a daunting task to overturn a four point deficit to the Dons.

Bean accepts Wanderers’ results will have to be as close to perfection as possible if they are to do so and is targeting a return of three points from tomorrow’s trip to Fratton Park.

He said: “There is no two ways about it, Saturday is a must win and you can’t dress it up any other way. We have to win, they have to win and it’s going to be a great game for anyone who is going.”
