Wycombe Wanderers’ Marcus Bean believes it is far too early to predict how the League Two season will shape up.

Wanderers have made a steady start to the campaign with five points from the opening four games.

They currently occupy 15th spot, but Bean says league position means little at such an early stage of the season.

He said: “I really believe until January you can’t [say where teams will finish]. That is when the league really starts to pan out.

“Before then it is swings and roundabouts, you will be up and down and no one knows quite what will happen. It is all to play for.”

The midfielder says the form of Crawley Town provides perfect evidence of how unpredictable League Two can be in its early stages.

Town struggled last season, but after an opening day win against Wanderers have pushed on and currently sit second with eight points.

Bean therefore feels producing good performances will ultimately bring the results Wycombe crave.

“We played Crawley on the opening day and they have gone on a good run. It is just about ticking off each game at the moment,” Bean explained.

“Putting the performances in will normally bring you results and I think the league will start to take shape around Christmas.”

Wanderers will look to find those performance levels when Colchester arrive at Adams Park tomorrow and Bean is looking forward to facing his former club.

He said: “I always enjoy playing my old clubs and touch wood, so far I have a pretty decent record when I have done. It is always good to see some old faces.

“I am expecting it to be a great atmosphere first and foremost. Knowing Colchester, they will be a young side and full of energy and that is what we bring to the table as well.”
