It was a tale of two penalties as Wycombe Wanderers were held to a 1-1 draw by Yeovil Town at a bitterly cold Adams Park.

The Glovers drew first blood in this League Two encounter on 20 minutes when the lively Francois Zoko was fouled by Sido Jombati inside the Wycombe area.

Kevin Dawson stepped up and confidently sent Jamal Blackman the wrong way.

However, Wanderers were awarded a penalty of their own just four minutes later when Paris Cowan-Hall tricked his way into the box and was upended by Alex Lacey.

After a slight delay, Joe Jacobson’s penalty was a carbon copy of Dawson’s as he sent coolly slotted home past Artur Krysiak.

There were numerous chances in an entertaining first half, with Dominic Gape cracking a shot against the woodwork before the deadlock had been broken with Krysiak beaten all ends up.

Yeovil could have been a goal ahead after just 30 seconds when Zoko beat Anthony Stewart on the left and pulled the ball across the face of the goal, beating the sprawling dive of Blackman.

Ben Whitfield slid the ball towards the unguarded net but Aaron Pierre was on hand to clear off the line.

It was proving an entertaining opening half hour at a bitterly cold Adams Park and O’Nien brought the best out of Krysiak on 30 minutes when he smashed a left foot towards the top corner, which was brilliantly tipped away.

The Glovers were still well in the game, however, and Omar Sowunmi flashed a header wide 10 minutes before half-time from Liam Shephard’s excellent cross.

After the break, Yeovil started quickly and Whitfield burst away on 48 minutes and cut inside but his firm strike from 20 yards was straight at Blackman.

Once again the Glovers threatened approaching the hour mark when Sowunmi got past Stewart and laid it back to Whitfield, who lashed over under pressure from Jacobson.

Wycombe hadn’t really shown any attacking prowess in the second period with the visitors on top for most of the proceedings.

However, the dangerous Cowan-Hall almost curled in a blinder on 72 minutes which went inches off target.

Wanderers were inching their way closer to goal and Pierre saw a header saved by Krysiak on 77 minutes after a raking free-kick by Jacobson.

The Chairboys continued to probe at the Yeovil backline in the last 10 minutes but Darren Way's side held firm.

Another point in the bag for Wanderers, who remain in the playoffs ahead of their crunch home clash with Luton next Saturday at Adams Park.
