Gareth Ainsworth put his side's long unbeaten run down to 'hard work' as Wycombe stretched that run to 14 without defeat.

This was after a 1-1 draw with Yeovil Town at Adams Park yesterday, where the visitors took the lead on 20 minutes through Kevin Dawson's penalty after Francois Zoko had been fouled by Sido Jombati.

Wanderers fought back through a penalty of their own four minutes later when the dangerous Paris Cowan-Hall tricked his way into the Yeovil box and was hacked down by Alex Lacey.

Joe Jacobson stepped up to send Artur Krysiak the wrong way for his first goal of the season.

The Chairboys had plenty of opportunities in the first half that they failed to convert but Ainsworth was proud of his side as they avoided a loss in the league for the first time since October.

He said: "Hard work and togetherness is the secret of this unbeaten run. Tactics play some part but if you recruit right and get in players who are going to work hard for you then you can get a good team spirit and credit to my staff too.

"I am really happy with the way things are going."

With regard to his side's display against the Glovers, Ainsworth was happy to have shut the Somerset side out after their penalty but rued missed chances to gain maximum points.

He added: "I thought in the first half the chances were there and we had a couple in the second half through Luke O'Nien and Bayo (Akinfenwa) but we just didn't get the rub of the green with our chances.

"It has been a long week and their were probably some tired legs out there as well as tired minds. They will be right back on it next Saturday and we shut Yeovil out fantastically well."

Max Muller made his first appearance in a league matchday squad for the Blues and Ainsworth expressed his delight at seeing the defender inching his way back to full fitness after some massive injury problems.

He explained: "It is brilliant to see him back. Max has shown us glimpses of what he can do and his attitude is fantastic.

"He has had these problems with his hamstrings and we took a bit of a risk on him as I have seen what he can do and it is a huge thanks to the board that we have been able to take this risk.

"It has paid off and to see his smile when he was on the bench today was brilliant."
