Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth was satisfied with his side's start to the new season after a lively 2-2 draw against Lincoln City at Adams Park on Saturday.

The Chairboys went behind on the half-hour mark when Matt Green tapped home for the visitors before a rousing response from the home side saw Luke O'Nien and Joe Jacobson turn the tables before the break.

However, Josh Ginnelly slotted past Scott Brown on 49 minutes to ensure that both sides shared the spoils in their League Two clash.

Ainsworth expressed his delight with the manner of his team's comeback in the first half but was disappointed with the goals conceded.

He said: "I thought we were the better side in the first half and they were the better side in the second half.

"2-2 is probably a fair result. I was pleased with the way the boys got back into the game, especially after conceding against the run of play.

"But I was disappointed with the sloppiness of the goals conceded. There are things to work on but Lincoln are a good side and I am hoping we showed we can match teams on their aggression and physicality.

"I am really pleased with a good point and one more than we had at this stage last season.

"We are not show how good or how bad a point is going to be yet but I have a sneaking suspicion that a point against Lincoln isn't the worst thing in the world."

Ainsworth gave debuts to Adam El-Abd and Nathan Tyson and the gaffer was happy with their performances.

He added: "I thought Adam was steady. What Adam does is make sure the person next to him excels, which is down to his communication and organisation.

"I thought Sido was outstanding alongside Adam. Adam is a leader and gave me exactly what I expected.

"I thought Nathan looked frustrated at times but credit to Lincoln for pressing us but he played with energy at times as well as the nervous energy he had."

Ainsworth has now turned his attention to tomorrow's game with Championship side Fulham in the Carabao Cup and the 44-year-old explained there will be some changes for tomorrow ahead of a busy schedule.

"We will be making changes as there is no way we can afford to pick up injuries," commented the manager.

"I am still trying to add one to the squad but the changes I am sure will happen. It is going to be a season where all the boys will be needed."
