Wycombe midfielder Luke O'Nien hailed his team-mates for stepping it up in the second half to beat off the challenge of Barnet 2-0.

O'Nien scored the vital second with a whipped free kick which evaded everyone but flicked in off the head of Bees defender Ricardo Santos, although the former Watford man is claiming his ninth of the campaign.

Overall, it was a very professional display and O'Nien said: "It was difficult conditions and the ball got caught up in the wind a few times.

"I don't think any team got a foothold in the game and when games like that happen you have to grind out the first half.

"We took the momentum in the second half. We played a lot better in that second half than the first and we deserved the three points."

With regard to his goal, O'Nien added: "Credit to the manager and Richard Dobson for my goal.

"They defended set-pieces in an odd way. They dropped everyone back into the six-yard box and our game plan was to whip them low and hard.

"I managed to get a nice trajectory on it and it went in nicely and I am delighted to contribute and see out the last 10 minutes comfortably.

"It was my first away goal since 2015 and I keep getting reminded about that and I didn't realise that until a month or so ago so it was nice to get one away.

"I am going for 12 goals this season and get to 10 as quick as I can.

"If I don't score again for the rest of the season and we keep winning then I am more than happy and we have goals coming from everywhere.

"The boys are doing well and it is another good three points."
