Wycombe Wanderers manager Gareth Ainsworth has urged his side to give everything in the two games over the Easter weekend as the Blues face two sides with differing fortunes.

Firstly, Ainsworth’s men travel to fourth-placed Notts County in a promotion clash at Meadow Lane before facing third-bottom Grimsby Town, who haven’t won in 19 games, at Adams Park on Monday.

Ainsworth knows the threat that County possess but urged his side to be on the mettle against the Mariners.

He said: “These teams are going to win at some stage and we need to make sure that is isn’t against us.

“We have been through periods like that where we haven’t won in a number of games and we can’t be done with any surprises or sucker punches and we need to keep the performance high in both matches.

"Believe me, I want everything for both games and let’s see where we can end up.”

Focusing on the Notts County game, Ainsworth added: “These are the games that are good as the players don’t need any encouragement to get up for these games.

“They know how much it means. They look at the league table and know what a crucial time of the season it is.

“It is about reining them in and saying don’t get excited too early and also giving them tactical tips and hints on what looks like a really crucial game in the automatic campaign.

“Whatever happens we are going to be third on Easter Monday, which is fabulous and it is in our hands. We want to make sure we give a good account of ourselves at Meadow Lane. They rolled us over earlier in the season and we want to show them how far we have come.”
