Wycombe Wanderers manager Gareth Ainsworth admitted his side got lucky at Yeovil as they produced a smash-and-grab 1-0 victory to cement their automatic promotion ambitions.

Wanderers were well below their best at Huish Park but on-loan Watford forward Randell Williams struck 12 minutes from time to give the Blues a priceless three points.

Once again, the Chairboys, led by inspirational skipper Adam El-Abd, were superb in defence as they recorded a fourth clean sheet in five games on the road.

Ainsworth said: "Sometimes you get what you deserve in football and sometimes you don't get what you deserve.

"We have been on the end this season of not getting what we deserve. Cheltenham at home when Ebere Eze got pushed for their equaliser and one or two other moments also occurring this season.

"I am hoping that is a little of bit of karma coming back to us. We didn't deserve to win this game. Anyone in the stadium who said we did will have been wearing rose-tinted glasses.

"However, we maybe didn't deserve to lose either. Adam El-Abd was an absolute warrior again. What a time for him to start being this absolute wall for us at the back.

"I thought the introduction of the likes of Nathan Tyson and Craig Mackail-Smith helped with their experience.

"The young boys ran Yeovil into the ground and it opened them up a little bit and fair play to Randell.

"He made his league debut against Grimsby and then he has scored his first ever league goal here and it has turned out to be a really important goal for Wycombe and it is a really important smash-and-grab for us and I am really pleased."
