Wycombe Wanderers have received a huge boost with the news that three key players are back for Saturday’s massive game against Accrington Stanley.

Adebayo Akinfenwa, Luke O’Nien and Dominic Gape have all been given the green light for the match at Adams Park against the league leaders and champions-elect.

All three players have been ill this week, with O’Nien being forced off at Yeovil in the first half on Saturday and missing the trip altogether to Lincoln on Tuesday evening.

Gape played against The Glovers but was struck down with the virus in the week, again forcing him to miss out on the fixtures against Danny Cowley’s side.

Akinfenwa started the game on Tuesday but came off after 37 minutes with a combination of illness and injury to his calf.

However, Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth confirmed that all three players will be available for Saturday, which will be a huge relief to all Wycombe fans ahead of such an important fixture.

Ainsworth said: “All three should be back for Saturday.

“All three of them were ill before the game on Tuesday. Luke and Gapey didn’t make the trip.

“Bayo made it but he was not well before the game and he was cramping up in his calf every time he tried to jump.

“He said he was no good but he is feeling better now and hopefully all three of them will feature on Saturday against Accrington.

“It is timely for the other two midfielders to be back. We did really well at Lincoln but they have been fantastic all season so having them all back for Saturday will be massive for us.”

Akinfenwa has had a remarkable season, missing just two league games earlier on in the campaign against Newport County away and Mansfield Town away.

O’Nien and Gape have been virtual ever-presents this calendar year and having them back is huge ahead of such a vital match.
