It has been another superb week of sport across south Bucks and a huge congratulations to one football team in particular.

Beaconsfield Town gained promotion thanks to a 4-0 win over Dunstable on Tuesday evening and their rivals Hartley Wintney losing.

Everyone at the club deserves that success and it is great to see all those associated with The Rams working together on and off the pitch.

I spoke to chairman Chris Coyle in the summer and they had huge ambition for the club and have been rewarded.

Gary Meakin and the team deserve huge credit. With the club being revamped, it is clear that the heights were loftier than in previous seasons and it shows Meakin has his side playing some quality football in such a difficult division.

There is also the chance for silverware to reach the Chilterns as Chesham United take on MK Dons U23s in the final of the Berks and Bucks Senior Cup next week.

They face a daunting task against a side with a professional set-up but it has been a truly magnificent run by Jon Meakes and his side in this competition.

Jon deserves a lot of credit for galvanising the squad after a slow start and they even flirted with the play-offs thanks to an incredible run after Christmas.

I will be at the football on Saturday to cover Wycombe’s crunch game against Chesterfield up in Derbyshire.

The Accrington defeat last weekend was a tough one to take. I think 4-0 was a bit harsh on the team after such a bright start but they were punished every time by their ruthless opponents.

It looks as though Adebayo Akinfenwa and Luke O’Nien will be back this weekend for the key battle, two huge players who have had wonderful seasons for Wanderers.

If they aren’t, the Blues still possess enough quality to see off Chesterfield with the likes of Nathan Tyson, Paris Cowan-Hall and Scott Kashket in their ranks.

Tyson and stalwart Matt Bloomfield signed new deals at the club this week and both are held in such high regard at Adams Park.

These guys are Wanderers legends and regardless of what division they are in, to still have the likes of Akinfenwa, Tyson and Bloomfield on the books is massive for them.

I am confident the Blues can still get that last automatic promotion place and think their ability to bounce back well after a defeat will be vital.

I can see a 3-0 win at the Proact Stadium and if results go their way, they could be a League One club come 5pm
