Wycombe Wanderers to meet Watford in Capital One Cup

WANDERERS will travel to Watford in the first round of the Capital One Cup.

The Blues will kick off the new campaign against Sean Dyche’s men at Vicarage Road on the week commencing August 13.

The Hornets are pushing to have the game staged on August 11, which would also benefit Wycombe, to give their players extra time to prepare for the start of the new league season on August 18.

However, clubs around London might be unable to play on the weekend of August 11 due to the problems with policing during the Olympics.

It is also unclear whether the pre-season friendly between the two sides, which is scheduled for July 31, will now be scrapped.

The first round of the Capital One Cup was regionalised and seeded, which ensured Championship sides would not face each other.
