Rendell joins Luton after failing to build on fast Blues start

WANDERERS striker Scott Rendell has left the club for Luton Town.

The 25-year-old struggled to make an impact at Adams Park despite signing from Peterborough for a six-figure sum in the summer of 2010.

He scored 19 goals in his first season at the club, helping Blues to promotion in the process.

But he hardly featured for them in League One last season, going on loan to Bristol Rovers and then Oxford before signing for Luton this week for an undisclosed fee.

With Stuart Beavon also tipped to leave, Wanderers will want to increased their attacking options before next season.

However, manager Gary Waddock can’t do anything until the transfer embargo is lifted.

Speaking to the club’s official website, he said: “When we can get the embargo lifted it won’t be a case of ten players turning up straight away, but you have to do all the preparation and talk to agents and players.

“Hopefully when it’s lifted we will be able to bring some new players to the club.”

Meanwhile, Waddock expects the speculation surrounding Beavon to only increase.

The striker was a sensation last season and although Cardiff City have distanced themself from a move for him, Sheffield United boss Danny Wilson is still interested.

Waddock said: “There have been a lot of rumous and speculation.

“But that’s been since the end of last season after the fantastic campaign he had and the goals he scored.

“I’m sure that will continue and the pace will pick up as we go into the pre-season games.”

More asset stripping before the transfer of the club goes through.
