Parsons going for goal in loan spell
3:03pm Monday 3rd September 2012 in npower League One Table & Results By Andy Carswell
MATT Parsons hopes playing further forward than he's used to will help him get on the scoresheet.
The 19-year-old usually plays as a left back but he was brought in as cover for the injured Sam Wood, who plays on the wing.
And he hopes that will help him with his aim of scoring his first ever professional goal during his month's stay with Wanderers.
He said: "I scored in an under 21 game on Tuesday. Hopefully I'll get one before I go and help the team win - that's the main thing.
"The manager said he wants me to play left wing. I'll do a job wherever he wants me.
"I like coming from behind the ball when I play left back. I do like to push forward so I don't mind playing on the wing."
Parsons agreed to the month long loan deal from Crystal Palace on Thursday and joined his new team mates for training on Friday morning.
The teenager then made his Wanderers debut the following day at Southend, and although he showed flashes of promise Blues were poor as they were beaten 1-0.
Parsons admitted: "We were a bit disappointed with the way we started today. Second half was a bit better. I thought we could have got something out of the game towards the end.
"The manager wanted us to work a bit harder and show a bit more effort, a little bit more desire to the fans who travelled to come and watch us."
But he added: "We've got to dust ourselves down and get the three points next week. We've got more than enough quality."
