Swimmers raise the bar

SWIMMING: Forty-two Wycombe District Swimmers swam in the City of Coventry’s Sprint Meet on Saturday claiming 125 personal bests between them from 179 starts as they helped the club finish third.

Nine year-old Emily Cannon and George Longhurst were both on sparkling form with four individual golds, one silver and one bronze between them and both of them making the 200 I.M. final, with George taking gold and Emily taking the bronze.

Ten-year-old Henrietta Lowen-Cooper took one gold in the 50m sprints also made the 200 IM final taking the bronze.

Eleven-year-old boys produced 3,200 IM finalists - Josh Howard, 8th, Connor Lewis 5th and Liam Jones 4th, with Liam taking one gold and Connor one silver in the 50m sprints.

For the 12-year-olds again it was the boys who were most successful with Joshua Lewis gaining one gold and a silver in the 50ms and then swimming to silver in the 200 I.M. final.

Jess Brock took gold in the 50m backstroke and then silver in the 200 I.M. final.

Meanwhile 14-year-old Megan Hipkiss took two 50m golds and then went on to win the 200 I.M. final in a Long Course personal best of 2.37.77.

Jack Yates took silver and bronze in the 50m's sprints and then went on to take silver in the 200 I.M. final.
