Swimmers share it around

Seventeen different swimmers won gongs as Wycombe District Swimming Club went medal crazy at the Ealing Open.

The squad won 47 medals of which 19 were gold, 14 silver and 14 bronze. They set 15 new club records and set 60 personal best times.

The 19 golds were shared by eight different swimmers but 15-year-old James Crawford was the undisputed star taking four golds in the 200m individual medley, 100m and 400m freestyle and the 100m backstroke.

He also claimed a trio of silver medals.

Katie Ambridge wasn't far behind though as she won a hat-trick of golds and set six club records in the 12-13 age group.

Her golden collection was made up of the 200m butterfly,100m breaststroke and 100m butterfly. She added silvers in the 200m individual medley and 200m breaststroke and topped off her set with bronze medals in the 200m freestyle and 100m freestyle events.

Alex Vine, 18, also claimed a golden hat-trick winning over 16s 200m individual medley, 200m butterfly and 200m breaststroke as well as taking silver in the 200m backstroke and bronze in the 200m freestyle.

Twelve-year-old Cordelia Wilson showed her versatility by winning golds in the 12 years age group finals for 100m butterfly, 100m backstroke and 100m freestyle whilst older sister Stephanie (17) won golds in the 16+ girls age group 100m backstroke and 100m freestyle and gained silvers in the 100m butterfly, 200m butterfly and 200m freestyle events.

Jeni Howard (14) won the 14 years 200m individual medley and 100m backstroke and bronzes in the 200m backstroke and 100m freestyle events.

Robert Matthews-Stroud (14) had to wait right to the end to win his gold in the 14 years 100m backstroke. He also collected silvers in the 100m freestyle and 100m breaststroke finals.

Alys Durrant also won a gold in the 14 years 100m freestyle final, she also gained a silver in the 200m freestyle event.
