Jones wins eight out of eight

A WYCOMBE swimmer has just outdone Olympic superstar Michael Phelps.

Phelps won seven out of eight races at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, but 13-year-old Liam Jones has just gone one better - albeit on a slightly smaller stage.

Competing for Wycombe District Swimming Club at the Bucks and Berks County Swimming Championships, Jones took part in eight races and promptly won them all!

He wasn't alone though, and completing a superb day for the family was sister Lauren, who added a gold and two silvers for good measure.

Meanwhile, Connor Lewis took four silver medals in the 14-year-old age group and also four silver medals in the Junior County Championship Awards, Millie Sansome won two golds, one silver and one bronze, Rory House and Emily Cannon both won bronzes.

Other medals came from George Longhurst, Fiona Shaw, Olly Ross, Josie Searle, Izzy Baxter, Megan Peters, Natasha Garry, Tom Lundy-Sadd and Lewis Ball.

Phelps went 8 of 8 in gold medals in Beijing... 7 of 8 in world records.

Still a great effort by Liam.
