MILLIE Sansome has had quite a fortnight; after winning three golds at a gala in Coventry the ten-year-old was back among the medals at the Wycombe District Swimming Club’s annual Long Course Sprint Meet on Saturday.
Sansome touched the wall first in the 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke and 100m backstroke at a Level One Open Meet in Coventry and then proved it was no flash in the pan last weekend.
She won gold in 50m freestyle and backstroke plus silver in butterfly and breaststroke and capped off her day by winning the medley final – comprising the six highest points scorers across all four strokes.
In total, the Wycombe club won 15 golds, 15 silvers and 14 bronzes.
Other sprint golds came from ten-year-old Josie Searle in breaststroke, 12-year-old’s George Longhurst and Isla Currie in butterfly and freestyle.
In the 13-year-old category, Beth Hirst won the butterfly and freestyle, Francine Kidd the backstroke and Chris Harbour the boys breaststroke. Connor Lewis, 15, had an outstanding day with three sprint golds but was pipped to silver in the final, while 14-year-old Luke Thomas won breaststroke and Natasha Garry was her age group freestyle and backstroke winner.
Tessa Hart won a sprint gold then took the 15-years and over IM title to finish on a high.
The silver and bronze roll-call includes Oliver Ross x2, Kate Lees, Lewis Ball, Ethan Carter x2, Emily Cannon, Isla Currie, Chris Harbour, Liam Jones, Francine Kidd, Charley Messenger, Tessa Hart, Hannah Krasner, Kassidy Dawn, Megan Peters, George Longhurst, Sarah Collin, Liam Jones, Katie Cannon, Josh Lewis and Tessa Hart.
