FANS of Wanderers and Wasps have been invited to a briefing at Adams Park for an update on the controversial proposals for Wycombe Sporting Village.

A statement on the clubs’ websites said Steve Hayes and the Wycombe Sports Development Limited team are first to meet with Wycombe District Council’s cabinet on Tuesday to set out the latest plans for the proposal.

WSDL is the company set up by Wanderers and London Wasps to oversee the stadium project, which has been earmarked for Wycombe Air Park.

The plan also includes the likely building of hundreds of new houses as part of the 'enabling development'.

Wanderers fans will be invited to attend a special briefing - when WSDL says they will be given the same information given to the council - at 7pm on Monday, July 4, at Adams Park. Wasps fans can attend a similar event the following day, at 7pm on Tuesday, July 5. Presentations will be made and questions will be taken at both events.

A statement says: “WSDL believe that the Wycombe Sporting Village will bring significant social and economic benefits to the area. It will bring jobs and investment, health and lifestyle benefits, educational and training opportunities and world class leisure and sporting facilities.”

Anyone wishing to attend must register for the event by emailing their name and contact details to wsdl@wycombecommunitystadium.com (See below for links to the websites).

WSDL has also organised two business breakfast events, on Thursday, June 5 at 7.30am and Tuesday, July 5, at 7.30am. These aim to update members of the business community with the latest on the sports village plans. New Wycombe District Council leader Alex Collingwood announced earlier this month he will be meeting with key figures in the campaigns for and against the community stadium ahead of a crucial meeting to discuss the plan next month.

He said: "I am aware that there has been a mixed reaction from Wycombe district residents to the community stadium and sports village proposal at Wycombe Air Park.

“While I will not be able to meet with every resident in the Wycombe district to listen their views on the proposal, I do intend to meet with the known key stakeholder groups who have publicly expressed an opinion about the community stadium and sports village project.

The plans for the site in Booker, Great Marlow, will be reviewed at a Cabinet meeting on July 18 when the council is set to decide on its future involvement with the project.

The project includes a new sports village and the likely building of hundreds of new houses as part of the 'enabling development'.
