BULLISH Blues boss Gareth Ainsworth said Wanderers shouldn't fear anyone after defeating play-off chasers Rotherham United and Burton Albion in the space of a week.

Wycombe showed Tuesday night's win in Yorkshire wasn't a fluke as they moved out of the relegation zone with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Burton at Adams Park this afternoon.

Ainsworth said his men have now turned a corner and the only way is up, as Matt McClure made it four goals in a week with a brace and Joel Grant took his tally to six for the season with a coolly taken penalty.

The Wanderers chief said: "The Rotherham result was really special and I honestly thought we don't have to fear anybody after that result. I've believed that since I took over and it's come to fruition.

"We're not going to win every game but I think we will win more than we lose.

"The spirit in there's fantastic at the moment. We've turned that corner and we'll keep going forward now.

"The performance was there against Northampton and Rochdale, it was just hitting the net."

Wanderers had to weather a metaphorical and literal storm in the first half, with the wind and rain against them in an opening 45 minutes of few clear cut chances.

Ainsworth said: "First half was a real battle against the elements and 11 men. At half time the lads came in tired, as if they had played 90 minutes. They really put everything into that first half and I had to pick them up and get them ready. I said this is our half, this is where we can get passing - they went out and did it.

"Second half you saw how difficult it was for defenders, because our lads ran riot."

A morale boosting clean sheet put the icing on the cake and Ainsworth once again hailed the efforts of his two central defenders Dave Winfield and Leon Johnson, who guided a makeshift back four that had midfielders Stuart Lewis and Sam Wood filling the full back berths.

He said: "[Burton striker] Calvin Zola's a big guy and with the wind it wasn't easy, and they've proved they are warriors.

"I simplified the game up for them. They've defended as defenders should, they haven't tried to do anything complicated."
