JOEL Grant is getting closer to finally fulfilling his potential - and Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth said he's the man to get the best out of him.

Ainsworth said recent performances from the winger, who is Blues' top scorer with six goals, have been outstanding.

Grant was this week presented with an award after his strike against Portsmouth in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy was voted goal of the second round.

And Ainsworth said: "A lot of people in his career have said they've never been able to get the full potential out of him, whereas I intend to get that full potential out of Joel. I want to know what makes him tick and get him doing consistently what he's doing.

"To see him flying into tackles and winning headers at the back stick is something I haven't seen from Joel.

"He's growing as a player. He's becoming a better all-round player and hopefully these rumours about Joel Grant being able to go on and be a top player will come true here, and I want to play a part in that. Hopefully I'll play a part in getting it out of him. He's a brilliant God given talent."
