WANDERERS boss Gareth Ainsworth said he has the basis of a squad that wants to work hard to create success over the course of the next two seasons.

The 41-year-old said his squad is currently a work in progress and fans shouldn't expect to see instant results after ten players were brought in over the summer.

But he said the players he has brought in are fully committed to the cause and that will lay the foundation for success further down the line.

Ainsworth said after Saturday's 2-0 win at Newport County: "We've got a big building process here. People know the club's been in debt and we've got big bills to pay.

"We want to build over two years a team, a squad, that then can be a solid base to work from and Wycombe Wanderers back to days gone by. It's going to take a long time but performances like that will help.

"For those people who didn't want to come to Wycombe, fair enough. For those who took the risk and said, 'I'll come to a club who finished 22nd in the league, allegedly got no money and in a bit of turmoil, I'll put my name to that, I'll fight for them' - that's fantastic for me to have. That's a little bit of payback for me."
