SURVIVAL is still Gareth Ainsworth's target for the season, the Blues boss insisted last night.

A fifth win of the campaign against Plymouth Argyle carried Wanderers into the top three of the table, while the performances of the team this season have given fans greater cause for optimism.

But Ainsworth said he's mindful of the fact his team had a promising start to last time around - winning four matches by this stage last term - before a disastrous tailing off of form almost cost them their Football League status.

The Blues boss said he has a points target in mind to achieve his objective - and anything that happens after that is a bonus.

He said: "We'll be careful with getting carried away. It's up to me as a manager to keep these expectations low for everyone and realise where we were last year.

"We had a decent start last year as well. We had a terrible middle section of the season. I know what this game can do to you. There's 46 games and we are not even in double figures yet, so we've got a lot of games to go.

"We've still got a few players in the dressing room who were there last season. They know exactly what I'm talking about.

"We've got a really good bunch now, I know the characters we signed in the summer - they will take on board what we say.

"We'll keep going on about getting to our total and we'll see what we can do after that."
