GARETH Ainsworth said he has to be patient with Aaron Holloway's development as a player - but added his first Wanderers goal was a sign of his potential.

A string of injury problems have held back the former Wales youth international's fledgling career, with Wanderers the fifth club the 21-year-old has played for.

Ainsworth said Holloway is someone who needs time to be moulded into the player the Blues boss wants him to be.

And he said given time, the striker will go on to be a key player for Wanderers.

Ainsworth said: "Aaron Holloway was a player we took a bit of a gamble on. It's a calculated gamble. I know the staff we've got can get the best out of people.

"This boy's had a hell of a first four years in football with injuries and being pulled from pillar to post.

"He's needed a home, some real one to one work, and we've given him that. He's behind in his fitness and development, and that's why we've only seen him from the bench.

"To see him score a goal is a glimpse of what he could become. Potentially he's a very, very good asset to Wycombe Wanderers.

"We're going to be patient with Aaron but I'm really pleased to see him get his goal."
