A FAMILY of three Wanderers fans saw their side win on Saturday after having further to travel than most.

Alfred and Dorein Vermeulen and their seven-year-old son Puck watched their team see off AFC Wimbledon after making the trip to Adams Park from Rotterdam in Holland.

The Vermeulens were converted to supporting Wanderers after bumping into lifelong Blues fan Eric Buckle on holiday in Uganda ten years ago.

They were introduced to all of the players, with Puck having his photo taken with all of his heroes.

Mr Buckle said: "Puck's hero has always been Gareth Ainsworth, as a player and now a manager, so he couldn't believe it when Gareth came out of his office 90 minutes before kick off and spent several minutes speaking to him and his parents.

"We hear many stories of football clubs taking their supporters for granted and treating them badly, so many thanks must go to Matt Cecil, Gareth Ainsworth and the team for going the extra mile. They couldn't have done any more to make this visit for our Dutch supporters a visit they will never forget.

"The icing on the cake was the team played amazingly well and won 2-0."
