Wanderers have made their first signing of the January transfer window after they announced the capture of Marcus Bean on a free transfer.

The midfielder was released from his contract at League One side Colchester, allowing him to sign an 18-month deal with Wanderers.

The 30-year-old has recently completed a loan spell at fellow League Two side Portsmouth before joining the Blues for training this week.

Manager Gareth Ainsworth knows Bean from former club QPR and believes the all-action midfielder will fit right in.

He said: “I’m really pleased that Marcus wanted to join us. I know him well from my QPR days and I’ve watched his career progress ever since. He’s always played at a higher level and he’ll add another dimension to the midfield.

“He’s been doing really well on loan at Portsmouth - he wins headers, he wins tackles and he’s a great lad who will fit right in to the culture we’ve got here.”

The Chairboys business in the transfer window so far has seen Alfie Mawson, Fred Onyedinma and Danny Rowe extend their loan deals to the end of the season, whilst Paris Cowan-Hall and Stuart Lewis have headed for the exit door.

Aaron Holloway also extended his short-term deal until the end of the current campaign.
