Matt Bloomfield predicts Josh Scowen will take League One by storm after the midfielder departed for Barnsley this week.

Scowen's new manager Danny Wilson said the 21-year-old has "the heart of a lion" after signing him on a two and a half year deal.

The midfielder, who's been handed the number seven squad number at Oakwell, was an unused substitute as the Tykes were beaten 1-0 at near neighbours Doncaster Rovers on Saturday.

But Bloomfield predicts Scowen - who could make his debut for his new side back in Bucks at the weekend as Barnsley travel to MK Dons - won't be sitting on the bench for long.

He said: "Josh has got a massive future ahead of him. I fully expect him to go to Barnsley and kick on again - he'll take League One by storm and he'll stand out.

"I've got a lot of time for Josh. He's a great lad who's got loads of ability. The fans thought highly of him and so did we as players.

"Josh wanted to move on and try to further his career, which is what he's done.

"He's been absolutely fantastic for us but we move on."

Fans' favourite Bloomfield added: "At Wycombe we're not in a financial position where, for a player who will be out of contract in six months, we can turn down that kind of bid. For the future of the club, it had to be accepted."
