Sam Wood took a swipe at the Wanderers fans who booed the team on Saturday, saying successive poor results doesn't make them a bad side.

The Adams Park faithful vented their frustrations at half time against Newport County, with Blues a goal down and playing poorly.

It was a continuation of the below-par display in Wanderers' previous home match against Plymouth Argyle, and a second half improvement against County wasn't enough to prevent back-to-back defeats.

But Wood said the fans who booed need to take a look at the bigger picture.

The midfielder took to Twitter to say supporters need to compare their form this season with last to see the strides Blues are making.

He tweeted: "So we nearly get relegated last season, we have 2 bad results, STILL 3rd in the league, small young squad and we are getting booed...really?

"This time last year we was 3rd from bottom on 34 points. Now we are 3rd from top on 56.....that's a good thing right?"

His messages brought a number of responses from fans urging Wood and the rest of the squad not to let the boo boys affect performances.
