Marcus Bean believes summer signing Jason Banton has the skills to be a hit at Adams Park.

The midfielder is glad to have linked up with the former Plymouth winger, who gave him a torrid time in the play-off semi-final first leg when Bean filled in at right-back.

“Jason’s got bags of ability and I’m even more impressed since I’ve been training with him,” he said.

“He’s obviously lost his way a little bit after becoming a bit of a child prodigy, so it’s just good that he’s come here.

“Hopefully he’ll get his head down, he’s got a lot of people that are willing to work with him and if can fulfil his potential then he can go a long way in the game.”

Bean, who made 17 appearances for the club last season after signing in January, believes Wanderers’ first pre-season trip abroad since 2007 has helped the squad’s six new additions to bed in.

Gareth Ainsworth led his side across the channel to France, where they spent five days before returning to the UK.

Bean said: “We did a lot of activities, took in a lot of culture and that’s what the chairman wants to do – he wants to develop us as people, not just footballers. I think it’s really helped to bring the boys closer.

“The standards gone up another level, which is good. I’ve been impressed with everybody. We’ve got a good mix of experience and youngsters now, so it will be really interesting.”
