JOE Jacobson says Wanderers got their play-off hangovers out of the way on the first day of pre-season training.

He said: “We talked about it then and that was it. We’ve got a lot of new players and that has helped because they weren’t part of it and didn’t have a season like that.

“The gaffer just came in and said ‘we had a good season last time, let’s try and replicate that. Let’s go again and play how we want to play and hopefully the results will follow’.”
“There’s never any negativity allowed around here regardless of the result.”

Wycombe swept to a 3-0 win over York City on the opening day to brush any lingering cobwebs away.
Jacobson said: “It was the perfect start. The gaffer has brought in players who he knows will fit in and there was no better example of that than Garry Thompson who has slotted straight in at the front and chased every last ball.

“We pressed high, got straight at them and maybe York didn’t expect us to do that and hopefully others won’t as well. The gaffer is very positive and he doesn’t want us going out and playing for draws.”
