Wycombe Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth Believes loan signing Ryan Allsop showed Premier League quality during the Chairboys’ 2-1 win against Dagenham & Redbridge.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper arrived from Bournemouth last Monday and has since set about impressing between the posts with a number of notable reaction saves.

The best of the lot came as he made a superb fingertip stop to maintain Wycombe’s slender lead in injury time against the Daggers, and leave Ainsworth in no doubt of his ability.

“It [the save] was Premier League Quality and I think that shows with Ryan. He has taken a couple of high balls and also made a save from a free kick which was a great save,” Ainsworth said.

“Ryan was disappointed to concede on Saturday and it would have been great for him to keep a clean sheet on his debut.

“But he showed tonight that he is willing to mix it at League Two level and do the right things. He will be a big part of what we do here for the rest of the season.”

The Blues have first-hand experience of the step up in quality that comes with facing a Premier League goalkeeper having twice played Aston Villa this season. The match at Villa Park saw Brad Guzan thwart Sam Wood as his powerful volley arrowed towards the bottom corner.

The American did not only save the midfielder’s effort he also pushed the ball away from danger, a vital quality for a goalkeeper which Ainsworth also sees in Allsop.

“When we went to Aston Villa and we faced Brad Guzan in the FA Cup we saw that Premier League class,” he said.

“He pushed Sam Wood’s shot away from goal instead of into danger and you see that in Ryan as well. It is something that Barry Richardson has worked hard on with the keepers.”

“Guzan was good at keeping us out, and Ryan has that Premier League touch to him and I think he is only going to get better for us.”
