It will be a case of friends reunited when QPR roll into Adams Park for tonight’s pre-season friendly against Wycombe Wanderers.

The club’s share a number of connections, from Gareth Ainsworth’s time playing at Loftus Road to Wanderers youth product Matt Ingram returning for the first time since joining Rangers.

Michael Harriman and Marcus Bean have also spent spells with the Championship side and the former is looking forward to taking on his old club.

Harriman said: “It is a bit weird because whenever I have played in a match with QPR I have always played for them.

“This is the first time I will be playing them and it will be special for me. I had fantastic years at the club, I learnt a lot and it should be a good occasion.”

Ingram’s return is one of the biggest draws of the night with the Wanderers fans’ favourite likely to feature in goal.

The 22-year-old made 140 appearances for the Blues during a six year spell before earning his move to west London.

Harriman is pleased with his one-time team-mate’s success and believes Ingram has the quality to continue to prove himself at a higher level.

He said: “You always like to see players doing well and Matty is a prime example of that. He worked hard at Wycombe for years and now he has got his chance. Hopefully he grabs it by the horns and takes it.”

Much like Ingram at Wycombe, Ainsworth enjoys a special relationship with the QPR fan base.

He is personally excited by the prospect of the club he played over 100 league games for coming to Wycombe, and thinks the former QPR players will also relish the match.

“The ex-QPR players will enjoy it and I am sure QPR will bring a lot of fans down here as well,” he said.

“There are a lot of connections. It is a special club for me as well and it will be a fantastic game.”

Ainsworth will be able to call on Adebayo Akinfenwa again after the striker missed the 1-1 draw with Brentford on Tuesday through suspension.

He will certainly play some part in the game and looks likely to start in what will be his first match as a Wycombe player at Adams Park.

The fitness of Sam Wood and Paul Hayes is still being monitored after they picked up injuries, but both are expected to return in time for the trip to Aldershot Town on Tuesday.
